SRNC Belgium: Successful start into the 2017 season

Wij kijken alweer terug op het eerste SRNC (Student Riding Nations Cup) van het nieuwe jaar. Ons team onder de leiding van Teamchef Louise heeft op de traditie-locatie Oud Heverlee in België prachtig presteert en een mooie tweede plaats in de team dressuur behaald. Niet minder dan 18 teams en rijders uit meer dan 14 landen streden dit jaar om de eerste punten voor het 2017 klassement.

Onze nieuwbies Maaike (Eindhoven) en Elise (Groningen) gingen samen met Marije (Deventer) aan de staart, die nu alweer vier jaar geleden in België haar studentenruiter debuut gaf. Met de beste teamtest ging team NED al goed van staart, als bonus reden zich Marije en Maaike zelfs door naar het halve finale. Met een uiteindelijke vierde plaats voor Marije sluit Maaike haar eerste wedstrijd met een overwinning in de dressuurfinale tegen Kelley uit Ierland.

Terwijl er in het springen nog wat ruimte naar boven was, hebben de meer dan 12 aanwezige Dutchies van een prachtige eerste wedstrijd in 2017 kunnen genieten en hebben zich heerlijk op de feestjes kunnen vermaken. Met als thema “Save a horse ride a cowboy” waren er op vrijdagavond geen limieten gezet voor onze studentenruiters. Met steun van ook een groot aantal oldies werd er gefeest tot in de late uren en ook tijdens het gala of de social activity, een tour door de mooie omgeving van Oud-Heverlee op een bierfiets ontstonden er heerlijke fotos en verhalen. Dus al in al een geslaagd weekend.

Last weekend the Dutch student riders made a successful entry into the new AIEC student riding season. At the first SRNC (Student Riding Nations Cup) of the year in Oud Heverlee the Belgian student riders invited 18 teams from more than 14 nations to reunite after the World Finals in the Netherlands around New Years Eve.

Under the supervision of Chef d’Equipe Louise, the Dutch team proved themselves ready for the upcoming season by winning team silver in dressage. Our newbies Maaike (Eindhoven) and Elise (Groningen) competed together with Marije (Deventer) who gave her student riding debut four years ago at exact the same location. Not only did they deliver the best team test of the competition, Marije and Maaike also qualified for the second and third round. While Marije finished on a great fourth place individually, Maaike eventually reached the final and defeated Kelley from Ireland, thus returning with individual dressage gold.

But not only on the horse, the Dutchies enjoyed their time at the Ruiterschool. With a beer-bike ride around hilly Oud-Heverlee as cultural activity, a Friday party under the theme of “Save a horse ride a cowboy” and a great gala on Saturday there was plenty of time to socialise, party and make good memories. Accompanied by more than 10 supporters and several oldies that found their way to the event during the different days and nights the Dutchies were well-represented at yet another well-organised SRNC Belgium.
